Christians believe in a 3in1 God. The Trinity has become too root-bound and concrete.
It needs to be updated.
Here is another way to understand the Trinity:
Christ is the power of the past (forgiveness)
Spirit is the power of the present (faith and ministry)
God is the power of the future (possibility)

I think what you’re on to can be a helpful analogy for understanding how the Trinity works. In this I’m reminded of Rahner’s rule, “the economic trinity is the immanent trinity, and vice versa.” This is definitely a good articulation of the economic trinity, with some qualifications, of course. I think the danger here is that we could unintentionally end up causing another sort of “root-boundedness,” by making the trinity “time-bound.” I think this is a matter of really teaching the overarching story of Scripture. We should explain that while we talk about God the Father as the power of the future, God is not only future, but the one who sums up the past and present as well. Same goes for the Son and Spirit. Father, Son, and Spirit (to use the traditional language) were always active and at work in the salvation history of Israel, our past, our present, and our future. Like you said, no analogy is perfect, but this is definitely thought-provoking.

Great thoughts here. This, by the way, is why I entertain the Process notion of God as ‘di-polar’ with the primordial (economic) and the consequential (immanent) being dynamic.
